A 14 km section of motorway between Budimir and Bidovce near the Slovak town of Košice will be completed in December, according to the minister of transportation. The section is a key part of the connection of Slovakia’s road network to Ukraine. Four more sections of the motorway will have to be completed before drivers can make it to the border without interruption from Prešov. The new section of motorway included the construction of 23 bridges and three exits at a cost €203m. Immediately upon completion, work will get underway on a section of motorway west of Košice that would create a smooth connection between Prešov to the north with Košice’s airport which lies on the city’s southwest edge.
