It turns out it’s not just the construction of office buildings, warehouses and new flats that are slowed down by the difficulties in getting permits. The problem is even being felt in the installation of something as simple and ecologically beneficial as electric charging stations for cars. The spokesman of the Prague Energy company Petr Holubec says the process can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months. ČEZ spokesman Martin Schreir told Hospodářské noviny “We see the main problem as the ununified interpretation of the law by the construction offices.” None of this will come as shocking to real estate professionals active in the Czech Republic. The Ministry of Regional Development has prepared a new unified methodology that construction office bureaucrats are supposed to evaluate permit documentation, but the situtation still demands passage of the long-awaited new construction law. The government of Andrej Babiš claims it’s made the bill a top priority, but the earliest date being predicted for its implementation is 2021.
