23,000 flats to hit Prague market over next five years

9 June 2016

Developers in Prague currently have 71,000 flats in planning. Smíchov, Karlín, Vysočany and Libeň are the most popular residential districts with 1,642 flats to be built in Karlín and 1,381 in Smíchov. In five years, 23,000 new apartments are expected to hit the market. Demand is even stronger, thanks to cheap mortgages, claims Central Group in its most recent study, based on the analysis of 500 projects. „Prague 5, Prague 9, Prague 10 and Prague 4 are the fastest developing districts,“ says head of Central group Dušan Kunovský. In Prague 1, just 132 apartments are scheduled for completion and 140 are planned for Prague 2 within five years. Prices in those two districts are the highest, in the vicinity of CZK 139,000/sqm. In 2015, a total of 6,000 flats were sold in Prague.
