The tender for the new head of the Prague transport company has attracted 51 candidates, with names such as Radek Šmerda, the former Transport Minister, or Jiří Vodička, former chief of ČD Cargo on the list. The new director will lead the largest city-owned company with 11,000 employees, CZK 15bn annual turnover and a controversial past. The former head of the Prague transport company, Vladimír Lich, survived just three months before being sacked by Prague’s political leadership for having the audacity to criticize the price paid for public orders by the company in the past.
