Echo Investment has announced ambitious plans to expand its presence in the student housing sector, aiming to construct 5,000 dormitory units across Warsaw, Krakow, and Wrocław. This strategic move comes in response to the increasing demand for student accommodation, particularly driven by the growing influx of international students in Poland.
During a recent teleconference with journalists, Echo Investment Vice-President, Maciej Drozd, outlined the company’s vision for the student housing segment. “We have a strong foundation in this sector, and demand is only increasing as more foreign students come to Poland. The current supply of dormitories is insufficient to meet this growing need,” Drozd said. “Our goal is to deliver 5,000 units across key academic cities like Warsaw, Krakow, and Wrocław.”
Echo Investment has already made significant progress in this venture, with multiple projects underway. “We currently have three major projects in Warsaw and have already initiated two in Krakow,” Drozd shared. He also indicated that Wrocław will be the next focus for the company’s student housing developments.
The Krakow projects, which will provide a total of 1,200 units, are set to be completed by the autumn of 2025, just in time for the start of the academic year. “We’re pushing to ensure that the Krakow dormitories are ready for students before the new academic year begins,” added Drozd, underscoring the importance of meeting the pressing demand for student housing.
Poland has witnessed a surge in the number of international students in recent years, particularly in its major university cities. This trend has created a significant gap in available student accommodation, with many universities struggling to provide sufficient housing. Echo Investment’s decision to focus on student dormitories is seen as a timely response to this shortage.
“The demand for modern, well-equipped dormitories is growing rapidly, particularly as Poland becomes an increasingly attractive destination for students from across Europe and beyond,” Drozd explained. The company’s focus on Warsaw, Krakow, and Wrocław is a strategic choice, given these cities’ status as educational hubs with large student populations.
