Lidl has expanded its Czech network with new store openings in Zdiby, just outside Prague, and in Brno-Kohoutovice, bringing the total number of locations to 234. The German discount retailer is also focusing on remodeling its stores as well as building a new generation of stores, which will increase to 20 locations this summer. Kaufland is also opening two new locations and renovating old spaces in the Czech Republic. The chain opened a new retail center with a supermarket in Jablonec nad Nisou-based at the end of March. COOP, meanwhile, runs about 2,700 stores in the Czech Republic. Its expansion is often connected to the development of new city districts.
