Resorts World Miami has received permission from the FAA for the construction of a three-tower project on the former site of the Miami Herald building. The approval allows for the three towers to top an identical height of 642 feet above ground, or 649 feet above sea level. Plans for the resort include the $200 million redevelopment of the Omni transit terminal in downtown Miami and the construction of two new towers with 300 rooms each in a 162,000 square foot limited service hotel and nearly 230,000 square feet of residential space. The 14 acre site was purchased five years ago for $236 million. The mixed use scheme still needs the approval of the City of Miami and the Urban Development Review Board.
