Lennar Corp. has entered into an agreement with Amazon to become the first homebuilder to design homes “Wi-Fi certified” with home automation and voice control by Amazon Alexa. The Miami-based builder said Alexa would be integrated into new homes powered by Ruckus Wireless to control systems such as lights, front door locks, and the thermostat. The homes will be designed to have no Wi-Fi dead spots and sport smart appliances that integrate with voice commands and mobile devices. “We’re very excited to work with Lennar because we think customers will love the experience of a move-in-ready smart home with Alexa,” said Daniel Rausch, VP of smart home at Amazon. “With Lennar’s new homes, customers can start asking Alexa to turn on and off lights, adjust thermostats, and more, from the start, making the smart home experience simpler than ever.”
