Huawei to invest CZK 8.6bn in Czech Republic

Huawei is planning to invest CZK 8.6bn and create 4,000 new jobs in the Czech Republic over the next five years. The mobile phone manufacturer is reportedly planning to build a greenfield assembly plant and is in negotiations with the Czech government about partnering on key technology programs, such as national broadband, smart and safe cities and cyber security and data protection. It has a 20-percent market share in the Czech Republic. Huawei is active across 170 countries. Its smartphone sales have increased by 29 percent to 139 million devices, while global revenues grew by 42 percent in 2016 to $25.7bn.
