9 May 2017

The Slovak Transport Ministry plans to complete three new motorway and speedway sections across the country this year. The R2 Zvolen speedway section near Pstruša is scheduled to open for the drivers by mid-May. This will be followed by the opening of the D3 motorway section from Svrčinovec to Skalité in June. In November, an additional D3 section near Žilina from Strážov to Brodno will be added. Ján Ďurišin, head of the national motorway company (NDS), also announced that works are underway on the D3’s Čadca Bukov-Svrčinovec section as well as the section between Budimír and Bidovce on the D1. In the second half of this year, NDS is planning to start construction on the Prešov bypass. Costs should total €800m, according to Ďurišin.
