The Czech antimonopoly office, UOHS, is planning to investigate whether mobile telecom operators in the Czech Republic are illegal collaborating with each other or if there is any abuse of power. O2 Czech Republic, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile and Vodafone are facing growing criticism from politicians who say Czechs pay some of the highest prices for mobile telecom services in Europe, writes Reuters. Political leaders have agreed to crack down on the sector before October elections with the aim of reducing prices by giving more power to the telecoms regulator and strengthening consumers’ rights. Vodafone claims it is ready to cooperate, while O2 did not comment the watchdog’s announcement. T-Mobile’s operating director, Jiří Grund, said that the step may help make the situation on the Czech telecom market more transparent.
