Host Hotels & Resorts returns to Tampa with hotel acquisitions

Bethesda, Maryland-based Host Hotels & Resorts has purchased two hotel properties in St Pete Beach for a combined $214 million for a whopping $616,700 per room key. The sale includes the 277-room Don CeSar, sold for $151.8 million and the its sister property the 70-room Beach House Suites by Don CeSar for $50.8 million. The prices do not include the hotel’s furniture and fixtures. The acquisition marks a return to the Tampa Bay market for the REIT after having sold the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina to Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik in 2014.
