Imos plans CZK 1bn shopping center in Brno

12 December 2016

Imos Development is planning to invest CZK 1bn into a new shopping center in Brno. The project is set to go up in the city’s Královo Pole district. With a planning permit in hand, the developer could complete the 33,000 sqm project in two years. The developer wants to build retail and office space. However, the local municipality prefers to have flats rather than a mixed-use project with shops in the location. The mayor of Královo Pole, Karin Karasová, is discussing changing the project with Imos, but this would call for a change to master plan, additional costs for redesigning the project and at least a three-year delay in construction. A change to master plan could take a few years as well. Imos bought the project this year from the Czech-Austrian company ACB Ponava, which cleared the former Alstom manufacturing area and planned to redevelop the land into a shopping center with a multiplex and sports area.
