Skanska starts new D1 section near Košice

Skanska officially started construction of a new section of the D1 motorway between Budimir and Bidovce outside Košice. Slovak Transport Minister Juraj Valent and the director of Skanska Czech Republic and Slovakia attended the opening. The 14.4 km section will cost CZK 5.3bn and will include 23 bridges, with the bridge crossing Torysa river extending 542 meters, as well as four overpasses and anti-noise screens. The project will be financed by EU funds and the state budget. Completion is scheduled for 2019.
