Donovaly to offer indoor skiing

21 November 2016

An indoor ski hall is being planned for Donovaly, central Slovakia. A company called Donovalley intends to invest €40m to modernize an existing ski resort, which has been lagging behind other ski centers in the country’s High and Low Tatras. The new indoor ski hall, the first of its kind in the CEE region, will be open year-round. The investor has already found a strategic partner, the Dutch company SnowWorld, and claims it has been preparing the project for two years. SnowWorld has been operating indoor ski centers for 20 years. There are roughly 20 indoor ski centers around Europe. The Donovaly project, which will cover 65,000 sqm, will target Polish, Hungarian and Slovak skiers. The investor already owns the site and currently is awaiting a change to the master plan.
