The Baltimore/Washington, DC office of Duke Realty Corporation has announced the start of construction on a speculative 169,000 sqf warehouse project. The building, Chesapeake Commerce 5900, will be the sixth building built in the 177 acre master planned Chesapeake Commerce Center which once served as a General Motors assembly plant. Located at 5900 Holabird Avenue, the new warehouse will feature 32′ clear height, 50′ x 50′ column spacing and 17 dock doors. All of the other buildings in the scheme, which total more than 2 million square feet, are currently 100 percent leased. Construction on Chesapeake Commerce 5900 began in October with completion scheduled for June 2017.
“Chesapeake Commerce Center has proven to be an attractive destination for businesses looking for high-quality warehouse/distribution space in a location with superior highway and port access,” said Battista Orcino, Vice President of Leasing and Development for Duke Realty in Baltimore. “Since all of our Chesapeake Commerce Center properties are fully leased, we elected to start a speculative building so that we can be positioned to respond to clients with immediate space needs.”
