Chinese automobile manufacturer BYD is establishing Europe’s first electric bus factory in Komárom with an investment of HUF 6.2bn, towards which the Hungarian government is providing a grant of HUF 925m. Production is scheduled to start at the beginning of the next year. The investment is expected to create 300 workplaces. “The company decided to open its assembly plant in Komárom because of its central geographical location as well as the knowledge and experience of Hungarian engineers,” said BYD Europe Managing Director Isbrand Ho.
