NTC Košice is planning to build a national tennis center to replace the current football pitch on Popradská street in Košice. The complex, worth €15m, is scheduled for completion in 2019 and should meet the criteria for the Davis Cup and Fed Cup. The project is currently in the EIA process, and NTC hopes to break ground next year. Designed by architect Pavel Mrázek, the center will include a tennis hall with 5,000 seats, two training halls and a five-story service building that will include office, accommodation and VIP space as well as a fitness center. NTC is a JV between the Slovak Tennis Association (51 percent) and the City of Košice (49 percent). Sixty percent of the project will be financed by the state, with NTC to cover the remaining 40 percent of the costs. The city will provide the site.
