In response to the shrinking labor force in Poland, online giant Amazon has raised wages for its workers by up to 14 percent. “We need to fight for candidates,” the company’s representative told the Polish daily Gazeta Wyborcza.
“We aim to attract the best employees, so we would compare wages being offered to our employees on all [CEE] markets regularly in Q2 each year,” said Steven Harman, head of operations of Amazon in CE.
The US on-line giant entered Poland in 2014, opening distribution centers in Wrocław and Poznań, as well as an R&D center in the city of Gdańsk. The company employs more than 5,500 workers in the country and has plans to expand its operations further.
