Penta in clash with ČSAD over Zaha Hadid project

10 August 2016

Penta’s ambitious project for Prague’s central business district, near Masarykovo train station, has hit a hurdle. The developer has not yet obtained possession of two sites included in its plans: one on Hybernská street, owned by Česká pošta, and another one along Křižíkova street next to the Florenc bus station opposite the City of Prague Museum. The site, currently used as a parking lot, belongs to the bus transport operator ČSAD Praha Holding. The company claims it wants to build its own project — a seven-story, 31,000 sqm office building — on the site, which it secured a planning permit for this week. The permit can be appealed during the next two months. Some suspect ČSAD is trying to force Penta to pay more for the land. Market observers hint, however, that ČSAD may actually start digging if Penta does not agree to the deal. The Penta project was designed by Zaha Hadid.
