Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, is planning to invest €1bn into a new manufacturing plant in Hungary. The factory is set to start producing vehicles by the end of this decade and will be equipped with a body shop, a paint shop, a final assembly line and a supplier park. Preparations of the site will begin this year. This is the second investment Daimler has announced this year for its Hungarian hub in Kecskemet. In April, the company announced it would invest €580m to expand and upgrade its existing plant, which produces compact cars. The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemet currently produces the B-Class, the four-door compact CLA Coupe and the CLA Shooting Brake.
