The Slovak daily Pravda reports that Jaguar is receiving huge numbers of job applications, as it prepares to build and put into operation its newest production facility in town of Nitra. Within six months of beginning its recruitment campaign, the Indian/British concern had collected over 40,000 applications, which far exceeds the 2,800 jobs it will be creating. It’s expected that the new factory will create a need for another 18,000 works for its suppliers. The new factory could create problems for Slovakia’s other automobile manufacturers, such as Volkswagen, which employs nearly 10,000 people. The HR company McRoy Group told Pravda that workers who have to travel long distances to their jobs could easily decide that finding work closer to home is a better option for them.
