The city of Prague plans to modernize the trains that serve its commuter routes as part of the Prague Integrated Transportation system (PID). To fund the investments, it’s applied for support from European funds for projects worth CZK 9.6bn, according to documents approved by the Prague council.
The projects would be carried out in cooperation with the Central Bohemian region and are to be applied for before the end of the year. The first priority is the purchase of seven-car trains along the S9 route from Prague to Milovice, with trains intended to run to Beroun (through Rudna) and to Čakovice to follow.
