The Czech Association of Local Self-Rule Bodies (SMS) will ask the Catholic Church to withdraw properties claims filed against municipalities in unsubstantiated cases. The claims are holding up development plans, and the group, which is joining forces with the Union of Towns and Villages, will formally present its request at the Czech Bishops’ Conference next month, said SMS head Stanislav Polcak.
The church dropped property claims it had filed against Czech regions but not for those filed against municipalities, Polcak points out. The church has more than 500 claims concerning properties owned by Czech municipalities, approximately 80 of which concern SMS members.
