Bundeskartellamt, the German independent competition authority, raided six car companies and car component suppliers over allegations of a secret cartel. The companies are suspected of being a part of an illegal agreement to adjust the purchasing price of steel, which is the most important material in the automotive industry. Among the companies under inspection are for example Volkswagen, Daimler, BMW, Bosch, and ZF, all of whom have confirmed the assessment. The raid, which first took place in June, is still in process.
