Construction output falls again in March

Construction output fell 5.1 percent in March compared to February this year, with employment and remuneration figures also suffering declines. According to data released by the National Statistics Institute, the value of buildings and civil engineering continued in a negative direction. Building construction output fell by 3.1 (worse than the 2.6 percent fall in February). Civil engineering output fell 8.1 percent, again worse than the result for February (7.7 percent down). There was also a 5.2 percent reduction in employment figures, while wages paid out for construction work fell 4.2 percent in March, continuing the 4.6 percent slide from February. However, when compared with the previous month, the salary index grew by 1.7 percent.
