Central Group claims it outsold Ekospol in Q1 2016

11 May 2016

Central Group, Skanska Reality are top two developers in Prague by number of sales, but the listing may not be accepted by all market players because it was assembled by the two companies that topped the list. Central Group and Skanska Reality (along with the developer Trigema) claim to have followed the methodology approved by Prague’s Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) in creating the listing. By counting only those flats that are sold with valid planning decisions, the new listing excluded a major competitor, Ekospol, from the top ten.
Central Group says it sold 259 flats in the first quarter of 2016, or 16.2 percent of all new flats sold in Prague, followed by Skanska Reality (9.2 percent) while Finep picked up third place with 8.8 percent of sold flats. No other developers reached 100 units, according to the listing, and Ekospol’s market share dropped to just 2 percent. Dušan Kunovský of Central Group argues that Ekospol has been including the sale of off-plan flats in their sales figures, even though they are often located in projects that don’t have valid planning yet.
