Unemployment in five Slovak regions soars over 20%, Bratislava below 5%

Unemployment is stuck at more than 20 percent in five regions around Slovakia, with the worst hit area, Rimavska Sobota, crippled by 26.91 joblessness. Bratislava was at the other end of the scale with only 4.27 percent of the working population unemployed. Overall, however, unemployment is decreasing.

Even in Rimavska Sobota, it was down by 2.80 percent y-o-y in March, according to the television news station TA3. In Revúca, the drop was even more significant, falling nearly 6 percent. In Rožňava, unemployment dropped by 3.73 percent and in Bratislava V, it decreased by 0.92 percent. Regions with unemployment below 5 percent included Bratislava I (down 0.79 percent to 4.43 percent), Piešťany (down 2.49 percent to 4.78 percent), and Púchov (down 2.22 percent to 4.89 percent).
