Construction has gotten underway on Belgrade Tower, a 160 meter high-rise that will be Serbia’s tallest building when completed as part of the Belgrade Waterfront project. The tower was designed by the US based firm Skidmore, Owings & Merill Global. The first nine of the building’s 40 floors will serve as a luxury St. Regis Belgrade hotel offering 125 rooms and suites, a spa, pool, gym, events hall and meeting spaces. It will also feature a restaurant at the top of the tower. Serbia’s partner in the Belgrade Waterfront project is Eagle Hills, a United Arab Emirated-based real estate developer.
In September 2015, a ground breaking ceremony was held for the first two residential towers, attended by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. The first phase of the project is worth roughly €350m, while it’s thought the entire project will eventually involve an investment of €3.5bn.
