Occupancy and rates improving fir Portuguese hotel industry

February indicators for the Portuguese hotel sector recorded a better occupancy rate and higher average prices compared to the same month last year, said Cristina Siza Vieira, executive president of the Hospitality Association of Portugal (AHP). In particular, she said hotols in the Azores and in Porto were amazing. According to the AHP Tourism Monitor, the occupancy rate per room of the Portuguese hospitality sector reached 49.3 percent in February. Tourist destinations with the highest room occupancy rates remain in Madeira island with 74.7 percent, and in February demonstrated growth of 7.28 percent, followed by Lisbon with 58.2 percent and Porto with 49.7 percent. The average revenue per tourist at the hotel was €96, an increase of 10.3 percent over the same period last year.
