Rui Moreira, Mayor of Porto City Hall, presented a redevelopment project for the Campanhã Slaughterhouse, which has been inactive for more than 20 years. The project will cost the city €10m and will have an area for “Creative Business and Technology,” a museum of industry, space for the arts, restaurants as well as sports and audiovisual facilities. The project was designed by Garcia & Albuquerque, Architects. Much of the building has fallen into serious disrepair and the project includes the expansion of green space in the complex, with the planting of new trees and the creation of a small forest. The project also access to the subway, but a date for the beginning of construction has not yet been set.
