Construction of a second Amazon center in Prague will be delayed. According to Hospodářské noviny and Mlada Fronta Dnes, the center for returned goods, to be built in the P3 logistic park in Prague Horní Počernice, will have to undergo an EIA assessment. P3 plans to develop a 40,000 sqm warehouse for Amazon in P3 Park Prague Horní Počernice, an investment which would lead to the creation of up to 3,000 new jobs. Construction should have started in January, with completion scheduled for October.
In February, Prague magistrate decided that the project required an EIA to investigate fears about the impact of increased traffic to the area, but P3 appealed against the decision. Amazon has operated a return goods center in Dobrovíz on the western outskirts of Prague since 2013 and decided to move it to the new location in Horní Počernice after opening a 100,000 sqm distribution center in Dobrovíz last year.
