Value of project permitted in Florida plummets 45%

According to a new report from Dodge Data & Analytics, the construction permit values are down 45 percent when compared to the February of last year. Builders in the greater metro Orlando pulled a total of $398.4 million in residential and commercial construction permits for the month, which was down from the $727.7 million reported in February 2015. Permits for commercial projects (office, retail, hotels, warehouses, schools, medical facilities and religious institutions) dropped 76 percent, falling from $363.5 million in February 2015 to $88.2 million last month. Home building was also affected, dropping to $310.2 million from February 2015’s total of $364.2 million.
