Sonae Sierra will start with construction work on the expansion of NorteShopping in Matosinhos. The investment will cost the developer €43.5m and will add 20,000 sqm to the mall while generating 700 jobs in northern Portugal’s largest mall. The work should be completed in 2018. The project also includes the expansion of parking through the construction of a three level underground garage. Currently, 2,800 people are employed at NorteShopping.
