The number of building permits issued in February dropped 4 percent year-on-year, according to the Polish General Office of Building Control (GUNB). This has worried local market observers about where Poland’s residential market is headed. The body issued a total of just 183,800 construction permits to start 209,700 new projects, a result not seen since 2010. Recent figures from the Polish Statistical Office GUS have shown that while Poland’s production and assembly (which includes construction) had been benefiting the most from the boom in residential, it has dropped 11 percent year-on-year over the past two months. The housing sector represents 43 percent of the production and assembly sector’s total business.
