The Slovak Antimonopoly Office has greenlighted Penta’s Sberbank Slovensko takeover. Penta signed the sales contract to acquire a majority stake (99.5 percent) in the bank in December. Minority stakeholders own the remaining 0.5 percent. Sberbank tripled its net profit in 2014 to €11.17m. The bank operates 40 branches and employs 690 staff in Slovakia. Penta has been active in the Slovak banking market since 2007. Its banking portfolio already includes Privatbanka and Prima banka.
