The foundation of Stadium Varna has been completed as have two of the six cells of the planned underground parking lot. Having begun in October, construction work is reportedly proceeding according to plan. Work on the upper levels of the stadium will begin next, with the deadline for completion set for early 2019.
The original design of the stadium was revised in order to reduce the capacity of the facility to 22,000 seats, most of which will be covered. The new project was developed by Proin Plus. Additional surface level parking will be build, along with sports halls for various disciplines, restaurants, office space and shops.
The general contractor is Technoimportexport. The investors behind Sport Complex Varna are shareholders Chimimport, which has a 65 percent stake in the company, and the city of Varna, which holds the remainder.
