Having served as the headquarters of the radio station Renascença for 80 years, a historic building in in Chiado (Lisbon) will be turned into a 94 room hotel. The radio station is moving to Quinta do Pastor, between Benfica and Buraca (also in Lisbon), by the end of June. The building’s owner, the insurance company Fidelidade Seguros SA, has not revealed how much the new investment will cost or the time that will be needed. However, the hotel is expected to open in 2018. Lisbon had 163 hotels as of 2014, which was 34 percent more than in 2010. A total of 12 new hotels opened in Lisbon during the first nine months of 2015.
