A court in Prague has rejected the accusation by several Prague districts and four institutes of the Czech Science Academy, which had appealed changes in 2014 to the city’s planning rules. These had enabled planners to draw a new runway at Václav Havel Airport in Prague. Local municipalities will continue to fight the case, however and have turned to the Supreme administrative court for a ruling. A scattering of towns, including Dolní Chabry, Ďáblice, Lysolaje, Nebušice, Satalice and Suchdol, argue that the runway will have a profound impact on living conditions for their citizens. They charge, further, that the environmental impact assessment carried out by the city was insufficient. The court ruled that the districts should have appealed the planning rules during the negotiation process.
