Macdonald Resort & Spa will be managing the Macdonald Monchique Resort & Spa, known previously as the Longevity Wellness Resort in Algarve in southern Portugal. The complex, currently closed, will include 190 suites, a spa, some restaurants and bars, indoor and outdoor pools and a conference room, following renovation work that’s to be carried out by the investor, Discovery Fund. It will employ around 150 people once it’s opened.
“We are proud and delighted to have been chosen by Discovery Fund to develop this partnership,” said Simon Jackson, CEO of Macdonald Resorts Ltd. “We look forward to making this resort a reference destination, and expect to begin receiving our first guests this summer.” Discovery Portugal Real Estate Fund is a fund that has managed tourism real estate assets in Portugal since September 2012. Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is now entering its 25th year of operations.
