Orbis to add 10 hotels to its Eastern European chain this year

19 February 2016

Following a deal with AccorHotels, Orbis Group is set to add 10 new hotel projects with a total of 1,100 rooms to its Eastern European chain. In its financial report, the company revealed that its portfolio included 108 hotels as of the end of 2015, offering 18,800 rooms. Over the next 30 months, Orbis expects to add at least 31 hotels to its portfolio.

Last year, the company signed 15 new agreements, including three new acquisitions. Apart from our franchise and management business, Orbis is working on its own independent investments, including the Mercure hotel in Kraków and Ibis Gdańsk, both of which are set to open in the second half of 2016. In the meantime, Orbis has initiated planning procedures for its project ibis Styles Szczecin.

In one of the biggest hotel transactions in the region last year, Orbis took over the Eastern European activities of AccorHotels, acquiring 38 fully-operating hotels in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
