Marriott Vacations buys, will renovate Edgewater Hotel South Beach

Orlando-based timeshare Marriott Vacations Worldwide has acquired the Edgewater Hotel South Beach for $23.5 million. Built in 1936 and containing 49 rooms, the property will be rebranded as the Marriott Vacation Club, South Beach. Located at 1410 Ocean Dr. the company plans to completely renovate the facility during 2016.

“We are excited to offer our owners and guests another new addition to our collection of properties around the world that puts them right in the heart of South Beach and all it has to offer to visitors,” said Stephen Weisz, president and CEO of Marriott Vacations Worldwide in a statement. “This dynamic new destination will also result in the establishment of another new sales gallery, continuing our strategy of growing our sales distribution centers.”
