Orlando airport breaks 8 year record with 38.8m passengers in 2015

15 February 2016

Orlando International Airport welcomed 38.8 million passengers through its gates in 2015, a record number of fliers. The previous record of 36.4 million passengers was set in 2007. Domestic traffic reached 33.7 million passengers, while international passengers reached 5.08 million, an increase of 17.57 percent. The airport is currently carrying out a $1.1 billion expansion project to build a new south terminal that will add up to 24 new gates. This should help it accommodate the 62 million-plus visitors that come to Central Florida each year.

“We are grateful for last year’s phenomenal double-digit growth in international traffic and strong domestic numbers. This affirms our need to continue with the $1.1 billion capital program in progress that will help us provide the level of customer service our passengers expect,” said Phil Brown, executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
