Lisbon’s city council is bringing charges again the Governor’s Palace Hotel in Belém, Lisbon, which it claims is operating without the necessary municipal permits. The five-star hotel opened in October 2015, say city authorities, without acquiring the necessary license. It also charges that the hotels’ parking lot has not been properly authorized. Under the Regulation of Building and Planning act, such infringements can result in fines of as much as €200,000. According to the City Council of Lisbon, the process of obtaining the hotel’s license has been undertaken, while the parking lot could be issued a license once the council approves its operating rules and tariffs.
