According to the 2015 Profile of International Home Buyers by the Miami Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, foreign buyers accounted for $6.1 billion, or 36 percent, of all South Florida home sales in 2015. Florida leads the country with 21 percent of all foreign purchases nationwide in the state, half of which occur in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. In dollar terms, the majority of the of international sales take place in Miami-Dade County, with 78.9 percent, followed by Broward at 18 percent, and Palm Beach coming in at 2.7 percent.
The top five countries of origin for consumers purchasing properties in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties are Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Canada.
