Czech residential sales breaking records

28 January 2016

Last year, 7,000 flats were sold in Prague, the largest number since the financial crisis. The number was 18 percent higher than in 2014, with the total invested in properties reaching CZK 28bn. Sales rose in Brno as well by 15 percent. Strong demand has begun to push prices up, however developers have increased prices only incrementally. The iDNES.cz server released the information in cooperation with statistics from developers like Trigema, Ekospol and Skanska. Central Group said the cheap mortgages fuelling the market allowed it to sell 1003 units last year. Ekospol sold 900 flats while Finep managed to move 617 in Prague. Rounding out the top five were Skanska and Daramis, which replaced Trigema. Mortgage rates are now almost at the 2 percent level, something which has encouraged the purchase of flats as an investment.
