D4 motorway to be completed as PPP project

14 January 2016

In an effort to push costs down, the Czech government wants the D4 motorway from Příbram to Písek in South Bohemia to be built as a public-private partnership (PPP) project. The construction company that will build the motorway will maintain it for 25 years before handing it over to the state. The transport ministry plans to launch a tender for the 32 km Háje-Mirotice stretch, with construction scheduled to start in June 2017. Construction and operational costs for the section are estimated at CZK 24.8bn. The government hopes all new sections of the D4 motorway will be completed by 2021.
