According to a new report from the U.S. Census Bureau, Florida’s population was 20,271,272 as of July 1, 2015. The finding made Florida the third state to cross the 20 million mark, and it remains the nation’s third most populous state, maintaining its lead over No. 4, New York. The Sunshine State still trails California, which has a population of more than 39 million, and Texas, home to about 27.5 million. The new data also marks the first time in nearly a decade that Florida added more people than California. Florida increased its population by 365,703, compared to the Golden State’s increase of 352,527.
