Penta takes over Sberbank’s Slovak business

18 December 2015

Penta has acquired virtually all the shares in the Slovak branch of the Russian Sberbank. Penta’s Slovak portfolio already includes Privatbanka and Prima banka. The transaction, in which Penta takes over 99.5 percent share in Sberbank, still has to be approved by the Slovak Antimonopoly office and the European Central Bank, according to the Penta spokesman Ivo Mravinac. J&T and ČSOB were also competing for Sberbank Slovensko, which has a network of 44 branches across the country.
