Reconstruction of Bratislava’s Old Bridge completed

17 December 2015

Bratislava has officially taken over the reconstructed Starý most (Old bridge) which spans the Danube near the Eurovea shopping and office center. The 465m long bridge, however, won’t open to the public for another two months. The city had hoped to recover 85 percent of the €70m investment from EU funds, which required that the contractor Eurovia complete the job by December 15. The bridge will open partially for pedestrian traffic in January or February, but trams won’t be allowed on it until March at the earliest. This would mark a renewal of tram service between the Petržalka district of Bratislava with the rest of the city for the first time in 54 years.
